Teeth, Dog Trouble, Home Search

This past week was another busy week for us. We are finally starting to get over these colds. Seems like everyone has them. Just when Natty started feeling better she began teething. Her first two teeth came in fast and hard. Wednesday morning she woke up fussy and with swollen gums, didn't nap much all day and by the next morning, she had two little bottom teeth poking through. It is so cute, I'm not sure what she thinks of them yet, I know she notices them because she keeps sticking her tongue out.

Emi got bit by my parents dog this week. She (Emi) is always poking at the dog, trying to sit on her, running circles around her... Brooke is a lab/retriever mix and is about 7 years old. She's pretty mellow and hasn't ever gotten upset with Emi. I'm constantly putting Emi in time out and seperating her from the dog but she is SO IMPOSSIBLE. I guess the dog finally had enough and bit her arm. She would have had her face except Emi had put her arms up to cover her face. Now my mom is stressed. She considered getting rid of Brooke but we ended up calling this lady who is kind of like a dog whisperer. She said she had all kinds of help for us so she came by today. Basically all she had to say was that we needed to keep Emi and Brooke apart. Gee, thanks for that.

We have been spending a lot of time looking for a house to buy. Everytime I find something we like we have to drive by it before my agent will take us inside. So we do that as fast as possible and then contact her and find out it's under contract. It's so frustrating. Seems like every home we like is sold before we even get a chance at it. We finally got into several on Saturday and picked one. Went back today to double check and wrote up an offer! We will hear back by Wednesday if it is accepted or not. I'm so ready to have our own place...

Please let me know if you try to comment and aren't able to! I'm hearing that there are problems with the word verification. :-(

I Failed Too...

Nice to see I'm not the only Mommy who failed the challenge :-) But I think I'm the worst! Now that people are feeling better I'm going to try this again.

Emi was super sick with a bad cold. She had a fever, sore throat, runny nose, cough and headache. I took her to the doctor on Tuesday (this was like 2 weeks ago now...) Dr sent me away because it was a virus. He wouldn't even give her anything for the cough. But he said I could call the next day if she had another bad night. So Wednesday I called and he phoned in a steriod med for her. I picked it up, crushed it into her applesauce and expected her to stop coughing in 6 hours, as promised by the doctor... She was up all night coughing anyway. Friday morning I had Natty's 6 month wellcheck. Just before we left the house, she started with the hacking cough and fever too. Of course I couldn't get anything for it since it had just started but they had me bring Emi back Friday afternoon for a recheck. Once again the doctor said it was a virus but finally agreed to give her an antibiotic. He said it wouldn't help and he was only doing it to make ME feel better. So guess who was feeling better 24 hours later? Yeah, Emi. SOoooo backing up slightly... Friday night Natty was up with a fever of 103, runny nose, wouldn't eat wouldn't sleep. She just kept crying. So I called the doctor's office (they have Saturday hours) and the nurse said it was probably the virus and since she'd only had a fever for 24 hours, they wouldn't see an ear infection yet if she had one. She instructed me to call on Monday if Natty wasn't better. Monday morning (one week ago) I called the doctor because Natty wasn't ANY better. Tylenol kept the fever around 101 but she was hardly eating or sleeping. I took her in and once again I was sent away with NOTHING. I reminded the doctor that I'd had Emi in the week before and she didn't get better until the antibiotic. He said it must have been a coincidence! I was so upset I wanted to cry as I was leaving the office. Poor Natty was miserable (and me too). Oh and did I mention that my brother and my future sister in law were visiting this whole time? Haven't seen them in a year and when they show up, I've got two sick kids to take care of.

So then Wednesday last week I got my turn with the "virus". I didn't bother going to the doctor since I don't really have one... I am still sick, but starting to feel better now. Natty is just starting to feel better too. Poor thing, I think she had it the longest. And now everyone else is the house is just starting with it.

So thats whats been going on with me for the last... THREE weeks! Hopefully I'll have better news for my next update!

Grocery Bags

I am excessivly excited about my new bags. I can't figure out why I love them so much. I am even laughing at myself about how excited I am about these bags. I walked by a display of bags at Babies R Us the other day. $1.50 for a bag. They had some cute styles so I bought two and then used the bag for my purchases.

The register tag on the bag states "The average person uses over 350 plastic shopping bags a year" I also googled it and in the United States alone, we use 100 billion plastic bags a year. Thats just insane to me. I don't need that many bags! I try to save my plastic bags and recycle them for trash or dirty diapers but I never need as many as I have. Right now I've probably got 50 plastic bags stuffed inside each other in various locations here.

Today I ran out to the bookstore with Emi and Natty. On my way out the door, I grabbed one of my bags and stuffed it in my purse. I used it at the checkout and saved a plastic bag! Yipee!

Aren't they cute?

My New Blog

This is my second attempt at blogging. The first time didn't go so well because I was always locked out of my account. I think I managed to post twice over 2 months and spent several hours a week trying to log in. I'm hoping this time will go better.

Right now I am trying to keep my 4 year old quiet while the 5 month old is napping. It's not very easy and requires a little more of my attention. I will return to make my blog pretty when both little ladies are down for the night.
